Buhari,Ajumobi and others pay last respect to Olubadan
President Muhammadu Buhari has called on Nigerians to emulate the exemplary lifestyle of the late Olubadan of Ibadan land as an epitome of honesty, courage and dignity.
Represented by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the President made the call on Wednesday at the funeral service of the departed monarch held at the St. Peters’ Cathedral, Aremo in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
He said that Oba Samuel Odulana, Odugade I, exhibited the fear of God throughout his lifetime and this informed the progress made in Oyo State.
The President stressed the need for Nigerians to work towards being celebrated while alive as well as to leave a good legacy after death.
He said that the whole of Nigeria was proud to have the like of the late Oba Odulana because of his life of honesty and forthrightness.
In his remarks, the chief mourner and host Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, paid a glowing tribute to the late traditional ruler whom he said had exemplary attributes.
Governor Ajimobi said that the late Olubadan left an indelible mark in the sands of time in the areas of politics, civil service, military and other leadership positions he was privileged to occupy before his ascension to the throne.
In his sermon, Most Reverend Olusegun Okubadejo said that the myriad of orations and tributes from different categories of people were testimonies to the fact that the revered monarch had secured heaven.
Dignitaries from all walks of life on Wednesday paid their last respect to the departed Olubadan of Ibadan land as his remains was committed to mother earth.
Among them were the Governors of Osun and Lagos States, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, and Mr Akinwumi Ambode and the Minister of Communications, Mr Adebayo Shittu.
Obasanjo Has Some Very Interesting Things To Say About Goodluck Jonathan's Administration.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo is definitely no longer a fan of Goodluck Jonathan and has taken yet another jab at the former president.
Obasanjo, who did not spare Jonathan the length of his tongue in the build-up to the 2015 general election, said on Friday that Jonathan misused the opportunity that the minority ethnic group had in producing the president of the country. He went further to say that the consequence of Jonathan’s actions while in office would affect the Niger delta for a long time.
Obasanjo made these remarks while responding to questions after delivering a lecture at Benson Idahosa University, Benin city, Edo state. He said "You can help anybody to get a job but you cannot help him to do it. There is no particular person who got there without the people. I believe that the opportunity that afforded itself in 2010 was for somebody from the minority to become the president of Nigeria. We should never lose such opportunity but what he did with that opportunity is entirely up to him. What he did or did not do with it will reflect for a long time on that part of the country."
He continued by saying "And don’t take that lightly, what he did or did not do with it, will reflect for a long time on that part of the country. For those blaming me, was I the only person that supported him? I was not the 18 million voters who voted for him. Who did you vote for, is it not Jonathan?"
Obasanjo expressed confidence in the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari and suggested that education should be used as a tool in the fight against insurgency. Obasanjo noted that social media could play a key role in the war against Boko Haram, saying it could be used to re-orientate the militants.
In his words: "Education is a moral enterprise which we need to re-engage, the issue of Boko Haram. President Buhari should also tackle it (insurgency) from the angle of moral education, if we are able to tackle Boko Haram with education in our schools, both in the social media that they use, we will dilute their messages and positively win their hearts. The capacity of all teachers would be strengthened to deliver such messages; morning and afternoon assemblies of our primary and secondary schools should have a strong dose of such messages, our airwaves and social media should also be saturated with such positive messages even if we defeat Boko Haram on the battle front, we need education to sustain the victory."
We recall that Obasanjo and Jonathan’s relationship broke down after Jonathan won the 2011 election and efforts to reconcile the duo did not yield fruits. It is still believed that Obasanjo’s lack of support for Jonathan contributed to Jonathan’s loss of the March 28 election.

Actress Yvonne Nelson denied being a lesbian
Lesbianism is against my religious beliefs, it’s against my cultural norms and I think it was very mischievous for people to insinuate such about someone they hardly knew.
The rumor was started by a notorious website in Ghana last year when they reported that they had never seen me with a man. In their warped and twisted calculation, I was thus a lesbian. Can you imagine such crass reasoning?
That they had not seen me with a man, and may have seen me with my girlfriends going out to have fun, and then automatically I was a lesbian. It was a hatchet job – an attempt to discredit me, but they all failed. I am heterosexual and would remain one till the end.
When you are in the public light as I have been blessed and privileged to being, your life becomes a public property and some mischievous people will say all manner of things about you. It comes with the territory, so I forgive them”, Oshey
